US Government Agencies
A variety of US government agencies are relevant to the trade community. Below is a listing of the most commonly encountered agencies.

The FMC and CBP are the primary US government agencies involved in international trade. The FMC deals with infrastructure, like ports and ships, and the CBP regulates what cargo can enter the US and what taxes and fees are due (among many other things).
The USTR deals with trade agreements and international trade politics. They offer updates on tariffs, as well as a variety of trade topics.
The FDA regularly offers industry news guidance to the trade community. FDA compliance is an increasingly important part of the import process, especially for medical devices.
The USDA plays a significant role in import cargo clearance for anything related to agriculture.
The ATF, like all federal agencies, engages with the public in its rulemaking process. Stay up-to-date and get involved.
